Key Cost Factors

Concrete core drilling costs are calculated based on several primary job parameters:

  1. Surface Orientation (Wall vs. Floor): Horizontal drilling into structural walls requires specialized equipment, setups, and water control, making it generally more expensive than vertical floor slab drilling.
  2. Hole Diameter (Bit Size): Larger bit sizes require heavier machinery, higher power, and cause more wear on diamond core bits, driving up costs as the diameter increases.
  3. Drilling Depth: Thicker concrete structures increase the time, friction, and diamond bit wear per hole, increasing cost per inch of depth.
  4. Material & Reinforcement: Standard poured concrete is easier to drill than heavily reinforced concrete with thick steel rebar, high-PSI concrete, or stone aggregates.
  5. Accessibility & Work Conditions: Overhead hammer drillings to locate penetractions on a floor above, confined spaces, restricted access requiring hand-carried equipment, or strict dust/water containment setup requirements add operational surcharges.
